Zurich & District Chamber of Commerce

The Zurich & District Chamber of Commerce provides a voice and network for businesses to join together for the betterment of the communities in Zurich and Bluewater.

The Zurich & District Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1951 and is still running as a non-profit organization today with 40+ members and monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of the month. 

​

The goals of the Chamber is to create and sustain reinforcing relationships among businesses and between business and the community. To participate in the development of public policy as it effects the economic growth and development of the area by holding monthly meetings to discuss ongoing projects and new ideas.

 

The Chamber works to effectively express the views of the business community to appropriate levels of government, either directly or indirectly, for example via the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and other associations.

One of the ongoing goals of the Chamber is to develop a strong membership base which in turn will provide the resources necessary to ensure a proper level of membership services and foster member involvement in the community​.

 

Business Meeting

The objectives of the Chamber are to have a strong business voice in Bluewater and to promote our area as a destination location for tourists and for people to call home.

​

The Chamber works to enhance tourism through promotions and collective marketing strategies with the Municipality and Huron County creating a synergy through the marketing efforts in the region.

 

As a member of the Huron Tourism Association in the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, this allows the Chamber to offer these benefits:

  • Visa and Mastercard discounts

  • Group Insurance Rates

 

Zurich & District Chamber of Commerce Community Involvement & Ongoing Action Items:

  • Ongoing sponsorship of local sport teams 

  • Instituted the organization of Bluewater Rest Home and continue to sit on the board

  • Founded organization of the Zurich Bean Festival and continue to be part of the committee

  • Organize Christmas decorating program and street beautification, including flower boxes, benches and street maintenance

  • Continue to fight for fair governance in the Municipality and County Levels

  • Financially support annual events (Santa Clause Parade, Maker's Market)

  • Annual public school student award

  • Assist in advertising local events i.e. Fireman’s breakfast, Bean Festival, Zurich Fair, Santa Claus Parade both locally and provincially

  • Continue to work with the Municipal planner to improve Zurich’s downtown

  • Manage the village of Zurich website and social media accounts

  • Marketing & Advertising Initiatives (*development of 'Chamber Corner' newsletter)

  • Grant Applications

  • Annual Holiday Home & Business Decorating Contest (re-established in 2020)
